Ultrasonic Mist Maker and Humidifier Selection Guide

PHIMAXX supplies both ultrasonic mist maker modules for OEM equipment and complete industrial ultrasonic humidifiers for rooms, workshops and production areas. The correct choice depends on how much of the system the buyer intends to design and assemble.

A mist maker module is the atomizing component. A complete humidifier adds the tank, fan, water-level control, controller, enclosure and other parts required for a ready-to-install unit. The questions below help define which route is more suitable.

Choose a mist maker module when you are building your own equipment

Modules are intended for manufacturers that already have a mechanical and electrical design. The OEM normally provides the tank, airflow path, housing, controls and water system. This approach gives more freedom over dimensions, outlet position and integration.

Choose a complete industrial humidifier when the site needs a ready-to-use unit

Complete humidifiers are normally selected by factories and end users who do not want to develop an atomizing system. The unit combines atomizing modules, matched power supplies, fan, tank, water control and automatic RH control.

Determine the required output

For a mist maker module, start with the required mist output, available tank space and daily operating hours. For a complete humidifier, start with room dimensions, temperature, current RH, target RH and ventilation.

Room volume alone is not enough. Fresh-air supply, exhaust, door opening and process heat can change the moisture load substantially. A smaller closed room may need less capacity than a larger room with strong ventilation, but two rooms of the same size can also require very different systems.

Confirm voltage and power-supply matching

The module voltage must match the driver. The power supply also needs enough continuous current and should maintain stable output after warming up. Buying the module and matched power supply as a set reduces the risk of weak mist, repeated restart or overheating.

For complete humidifiers, also confirm the local mains voltage and whether a plug, bare wire or site isolator is required.

Check water quality and maintenance

Hard water can create scale on ceramic discs and white mineral residue in the air. State whether the project will use tap, softened, filtered, RO or DI water. Sensitive electronics, printing and clean applications often need lower-mineral water.

Both modules and complete humidifiers need access for tank cleaning and disc inspection. Daily runtime and water quality determine the maintenance interval more than the calendar alone.

Consider airflow and mist distribution

A module produces mist but does not distribute it. OEM equipment needs a fan, outlet or duct arrangement that lets the fog evaporate without carrying large droplets. Complete room humidifiers also need suitable placement and, in larger spaces, more than one outlet or unit.

Poor distribution can create a wet area near the humidifier while the far end remains dry. Outlet direction, fan pressure, duct slope and sensor position should be checked during commissioning.
