Mist maker modules operate in one of the most demanding locations inside a machine: close to water, warm saturated air, mineral deposits and repeated heating and cooling. Waterproof construction reduces the risk of moisture reaching the PCB and electrical joints, but the rating must be understood together with the actual installation.
A module marked IP67 is not automatically suitable for every tank, liquid or cleaning method. Cable entries, connectors, fasteners and the surrounding equipment design still determine long-term reliability.
IP67 generally indicates protection against dust ingress and temporary immersion under defined laboratory conditions. It does not guarantee unlimited underwater operation, resistance to every chemical or survival under high-pressure washing.
Ask whether the rating applies to the complete assembly or only to the housing. External connectors and cable joints may require separate protection.
Warm mist condenses on cooler surfaces. Even a module mounted above the normal water line can be exposed to droplets and saturated air. Repeated cycles can draw moisture through weak cable seals or joints.
Once moisture reaches the PCB, the result may be intermittent operation, corrosion or leakage current rather than an immediate complete failure. These faults can be difficult to reproduce after the unit is removed from the tank.
A well-sealed housing can still fail through the cable route. The cable should leave the module without sharp bending, rubbing or tension.
Place connectors outside the tank and above any possible overflow level. Use drip loops and strain relief. If a connector must be inside the equipment, protect it from direct mist and condensate.
Water quality affects more than the ceramic disc. Chlorides, cleaning chemicals and dissolved minerals can attack metal parts or accumulate around fasteners and seals.
For non-neutral liquids, confirm the complete material set rather than relying on the IP rating. Waterproofing and chemical compatibility are separate questions.
Do not use the module housing as a structural support or allow it to strike the tank during transport. Keep the module level so every head operates at a consistent water depth.
Provide space for water circulation and cleaning. A tightly enclosed module may run hotter and collect more debris.
Clean mineral deposits with a suitable mild method and soft tools. Do not scrape the ceramic surface or pry at sealed joints.
Inspect the cable entry, housing and fasteners whenever the module is removed. Replace a damaged cable or cracked seal instead of relying on temporary tape inside the wet chamber.
Test the complete module, cable and connector arrangement in the final tank. Include refill, overflow protection, shutdown, transport vibration and cleaning in the validation plan.
A reliable waterproof design prevents water from reaching the electrical system; it does not simply assume that every component can tolerate flooding.
Project note: For OEM integration, confirm whether the complete module, cable and connector arrangement meets the environmental exposure expected in the finished equipment.
An IP-rated module helps protect internal electronics from water exposure, but the tank, connectors, power supply and controller still require their own protection. An exposed plug or unsealed cable joint can become the weakest point in an otherwise waterproof assembly.
Opening the module, replacing a disc or pulling a cable can disturb the seal. Any service procedure that affects the enclosure should include a visual inspection and, where required, a leakage test before returning the unit to operation.

Scale, sediment and chemical exposure can still affect output and materials. Routine cleaning remains necessary, and the module should be removed from service if the enclosure or cable is damaged.
The module is designed for its specified operating arrangement, but IP67 alone should not be interpreted as unlimited permanent immersion under all conditions.
Only with a correctly rated and sealed connection. Voltage drop and polarity must also be checked.
Only when the power supply itself has that rating. Every component and field connection must be assessed separately.
